Fortunately, there are many ways in which people can have opinions, so they can make their own decisions. Most Web sites use stars, symbols or notes to explain to visitors that the assessments and observations are available on a specific item or service. These opportunities should be taken to avoid wasting money, time, or dealing with frustration, which would otherwise have been avoided. Take, for example, technology for web hosting and easy access to web-hosting companies have created thousands, perhaps millions, of personal and professional sites around the world. web hosting companies offer their own space, a single server or even a “virtual”, where anyone can work for the company, or simply has its own website.

Unfortunately, not all web hosting companies are the same, and reviews of web hosting are very helpful to let others know about our web hosting provider. Moreover, they are a good tool to use to evaluate whether to choose a web hosting company. For example, a company that says his company “cheap” or “low cost” web hosting may receive little more than a bit of server space and, perhaps, FTP to download files. If this can be incredibly affordable prices, in almost the same at the expense of probably not many other web hosting sites that may offer free applications and other forms of assistance for establishing and maintaining a great website. It is worth really “shop”.

“It’s not the plan that is important, it’s the planning”.
Dr Graeme Edwards

There are over 25 million small businesses in the United States. Most of them would benefit from doing business online. The Internet becoming an ever more ingrained part of our lives, and business is becoming unimaginable without it. Yet, many business owners are unsure about how to succeed online.

Proper preparation does not guarantee success, but the lack of it almost certainly will result in failure. We all want to succeed when we start a business, but we often disregard the need for proper planning. The keyword is proper, not planning. If you do everything in your power to properly plan your business, you increase your chances for success.

Even if you have an existing business, your business plan should have an online business strategy. Succeeding online will require a new way of looking at your business. If you had a marketing plan for your brick and mortar business, your online presence is going to demand that you update your overall marketing strategy.

Treat you online business seriously. Many online businesses fail because people treat them like hobbies. If you only plan to work in your online business a couple of hours a week, you can’t expect great success. Doing business on the Internet requires dedication. You have to educate yourself about the many different options and technologies available. Just like with a brick and mortar business, you are only going to get out of your business what you put into it. If you are only willing to put in a few hours a week, expect to get a few hours a week of income. There are no shortcuts to earning a living online.

The biggest mistake many entrepreneurs make when starting an online business is that they don’t sit down and write up a business plan. Don’t think that writing a business plan is an exercise for first year business majors only. You should never start a business based on a great idea. An idea is just that, an idea. It is not going to help you succeed in business.

“The aim of marketing is to know and understand the customer so well the product or service fits him and sells itself.” – Peter F. Drucker

What is a pitch?

A pitch is designed to attempt a logical series of steps in order to arrive at a desired outcome.

What is a script?

A script is the same thing as a pitch.

As I see it, there are two ways scripts and/or pitches can be useful. The first is they can be useful to learn something new and the second, they can be used to persuade the write of the script, because ultimately, the writer of the script is the one who it’s really designed to influence.

Other than that, they’re useless. By pitching the pitch and ditching your script, you are absolutely going to excel in your business.

Now here’s an alternative that is phenomenal. It’s easier, more effective, and more efficient.

Persuasion.

What is persuasion?

Persuasion is rapport. It’s giving someone exactly what they want. It’s understanding the customer so well that you mold your product or service to fit them.

What does your customer want the most? That’s what you’re going to give them. If your customer understands that you’re going to give them what they want, exactly what they want, they are going to get really excited about it and buy the product or service.

It’s like stepping into you, and giving yourself the idea that this is what you want to do, and so since it came from you, you say “yes, of course, I want to do it”.

Pitches can be useful as an outline giving you an overall series of points you might want to cover with your prospect.

If your prospect is going to sign an agreement, they need to know what’s in the agreement, they need to know what they’re agreeing to, so there are a few points that maybe you need to make sure to bring up.

What are you going to bring up those points in light of? (Hint: This is where persuasion comes in.)

Their criteria!! Their highest values!! What they want!

Marrying their criteria to our product or service is our sole intention in life. If their criteria equals your product, are they going to own it?

Yup. Absolutely.

Our job is to marry your affluent prospect’s values with our product/service, (or with ourselves, if that’s what you’re selling – and to some extent you are always selling yourself).

We are doing this with intention. We do this rapport. We do this with criteria elicitation. These are all the building blocks of persuasion. With persuasion we can put our fingers on the hot button of our prospects.

All there is to this is focusing everything you say, do, express, on naming their values and criteria and showing them how you are the only person where they can get this criteria met.

Now that you have just this tiny understanding of persuasion, you can absolutely ditch the pitch.

What’s in a Name? In today’s world where hundreds of millions of businesses are online the name can affect how many visitors you get and how much money you make. The name can make all of the difference in branding your product and helping people to remember that you exist.

The right domain name is important to let your potential customers know what your business is about and where to find you. The easier it is for them to figure this out from a glance the better off you are. For example, a business that helps websites gain exposure through writing and submitting articles would do much better under the name article-agent.org then blogpublishingandmarketing.com

Let us analyze the information for a second. The domain name article-agent.org has the word “article” and “agent” in it. “Article” means that the site has something to do with articles, writing articles or hosting articles while “agent” has the concept of someone working for you associated with it. Therefore, together it means that the site is doing something for you with articles. It seems like it fits with the overall concept of gaining visitors with articles.

If we looked at blogpublishingandmarketing.com the three words that jump out are “blog”, “publishing” and “marketing”. It sounds as though the site publishes blogs and helps market them instead of marketing websites. The concepts are completely different and therefore may confuse your customers. They won’t know what your website is really about and may never actually visit it.

Therefore, the name that you use in your website address is important so that it tells the potential customer and visitor what you actually do and why you do it. The closer the name to the actual function of the site the more visitors you will see and most likely the more customers you will get.

The website domain address should also be short. The longer it gets the more difficult it is to remember. This can create a potential problem for customers who want to write down the site, remember it or try and type it in the address bar. For example, the words “dog food” in the domain is much better then “dog food lovers and people interested in dogs”. One will make your head spin while the other makes sense.

The right domain name will enhance your marketing strategy a few times over. For example, marketing is all about getting your message out. If your message, your images and your domain name are in parity you will be providing your customers with a single and obvious message. This obvious message will serve them when evaluating your business.

Marketing is about using all the tools you have in front of you and developing a few that you didn’t know existed. You can spend loads of money on your website but if your domain name is not congruent you will loose these potential customers. Your reputation, your businesses success, and your income depend on your messages. With this in mind you should not forget that your domain name is part of that message.

Choosing the ideal location for your home office isn’t always as easy as some people may think. As a matter of fact it can be one of the toughest decisions to make in the early stages of your business. Most homes are already quite limited in the amount of space they have. Trying, then, to fit a home office into this limited space can make matters more complicated than you may have ever considered.

What choices do you have? Let’s have a look at each.

Attic

Converting your attic for use as a home office is a wonderful idea. You’d have privacy and a dedicated working area that’s away from your friends and family. Although an ideal location a proper attic conversion can cost several thousands dollars to complete properly. It’s not just a matter of putting down some flooring and fitting some power points on the walls. It needs to be properly ventilated and insulated to cater for all types of weather. You’ll also need some Velux windows fitted to make sure you have natural air and light coming into the new home office in your attic.

Another question worth asking is whether or not your attic is actually capable of being converted – not all are. It depends on how the roofing timbers are arranged and on the overall structure of the house. A local attic conversion specialist will be able to help more with advice on this. Just make sure that if you do decide to go down this route that you have a proper stairs fitted – some attic conversions only come supplied with ladders which simply isn’t convenient or safe for any real business purpose.

Basement

Using your basement as a home office is a great idea normally. As a matter of fact a famous entrepreneur friend of mine runs his entire business from his basement. It allows him all the space he needs and again the privacy that a business requires to be run properly.

Using your basement as a home office is very similar to the idea of converting your attic except that far less work is required for this room to become a functional home office; in that flooring and other such items are rarely required in a basement. With all the space that a basement provides it can easily become a case of home office clutter so make sure you have a dedicated area of the basement to work from that’s as far away from any utility items ,such as washing machines, as is possible.

The primary concerns with using a basement as a home office is dampness and any moisture related damage to computer and other electronic equipment. Printers and fax machines in particular hate dampness and this can lead to no end of printing headaches. Make sure your basement is well insulated, damp-proofed and properly air-conditioned also.

Garage

Using your garage as a home office isn’t a bad idea at all. Obviously you don’t want to just fit a desk, chair and computer in the middle of existing garage junk so do make sure that you at least convert part of the garage into a proper home office. You could always partition off a section of the garage and dedicate that solely to your home office functions? If you have enough space of course.

A major concern with using your garage as a home office is security. The garage is technically “outside” your home so make sure that you have proper security alarms and doors fitted to prevent intrusion. If you’re really serious about your business you could always convert the garage into an office by removing the garage door and having a wall built there instead. This may seem extreme but would provide a complete solution to most security concerns.

You’ll also need to ensure that the garage is properly heated, air conditioned and insulated. Otherwise you may find yourself in a well equipped office thats cold, uncomfortable to work in and even damp.

Spare Bedroom

This is one of the favorite spots in any house to use as a home office. Why? It comes with the advantage of being indoors, it’s already painted and decorated and is, of course, heated and quite comfortable to work (or sleep) in. The vast majority of at-home-workers tend to favor the spare bedroom as a home office for the reasons of simplicity and convenience. It’s just a matter of putting in your furniture and your computer and away you go right? Well kinda.

The problem with using a spare bedroom is this. It was a bedroom first and an office second. It’s hard to get people to change how they see it in that regard. If you choose to make a spare bedroom your office then make sure that it’s function as an office comes before anything else. Do you really want guests sleeping near valuable equipment and/or sensitive business documents? Nope. Didn’t think so. If necessary convert it fully to an office and throw away the “spare bedroom” title altogether. You’ll be glad you did.

Family Rooms/Utility Rooms

Unless you have no other choice in where to locate your home office then set it up here. Experience has shown that trying to work productively when your kids/family/friends are running/chatting/eating around you is pretty much impossible. The same can be said of the utility room – they tend to be far too noisy to be of any real use. Use these locations only as a last resort.

A key factor in setting up an office at home is for those in your family and social circle to realize that it is in fact an office and not just someplace for them to call in to for a chat and a coffee. If you’re serious about your home business then be serious about your home office also.

When you go shopping in mall stores or even on the internet these days, you might notice that there is a very retro feel to most of the clothing. One very popular style right now is the vintage t shirt. While some people are actually going to thrift stores to find these retro tees, most of them are reproductions, which look better than the originals! Retro tees are a great asset to any wardrobe because they add a bit of diversity, culture, and fun to what may be an otherwise dull closet full of clothes.

The great thing about the vintage t shirt craze that has been ongoing for some time now is that it works for the old and young alike. While there are many fashion trends that are only for the young, this is one that everyone can get in on. No one is too old for a basic tee, and the retro look is something that most of us are drawn to. This type of clothing is simple but makes a statement, and perhaps even allows us to let our personality shine through our clothing a bit.

Not only is the vintage t shirt craze open to people of all ages, it comes in many shapes and sizes. Think about it, most of these retro tees are simply a basic tee with an old school or traditional type design on it. This means that there are a lot of different options out there so that we can have a whole closet full of this fashion trend but not look the same every day. Or, each person can buy just one or two of this type of tee and really find something that fits his or her personality. This is not the case with a lot of other fashion trends, because most styles only come in so many colors, textures, and sizes so eventually we all end up looking basically the same. This is not the case when it comes to this type of tee!

The retro look is something that many families are bonding over. Just think about it, many kids are coming home from shopping with friends with tees that have the designs of classic characters or brands that were “cool” when their parents were kids. This is opening up a dialogue between parents and their children that wasn’t there before. Of course, this isn’t the intention, but it is a positive side effect of what is essentially a fashion trend.

If you aren’t sure where to buy a vintage t shirt that suits your personality, you may want to visit the http://www.funkyes.com website. This is a website that is dedicated to personal style, slogans, and the retro look that is something we can all wear. You will find a wide selection of tees here that will fit your body type, your budget, and your personal style. You can shop around, but you will probably find that the Funk Yes selection is one of the very best you will find anywhere.

Have you just finished potty training your new puppy? There is often great relief when your young dog finally gets that they are supposed to go outdoors to use the bathroom, but with that relief often comes the realization that in your home you have a huge pet odor removal problem. When your new puppy goes to the bathroom around the home, it can be difficult to get the stains out of the floor, let alone get all of the smells out of the carpet and carpet padding.

The problem with puppies is that they often might use places that you did not even see, so you may have missed the opportunity to keep the urine from soaking into the carpet padding. If you have linoleum floors, the urine can also seep down below the surface of the floor and into the flooring, causing unwanted scents. While your puppy may now be potty trained, your house might smell more like a kennel than ever! Who wants to return to the home after a long day at the office only to find that their home is almost uninhabitable? This unwelcome greeting upon entering the home is generally the beginning of the pet odor removal process for most homeowners.

As dogs age, they often are not able to get outside before they have to urinate. This can bring back all of those bad memories of getting rid of the lingering scents of potty training puppies. The problem with older dogs is that they usually do not mean to go in the house, but they simply cannot hold it for as long as they once could, or they simply are not aware enough to realize that they are doing something that they normally wouldn’t do. Pet odor removal can again become a problem for the pet owner, especially if the dog is an inside dog and spends a lot of time alone. What can you do?

If you visit any store you will find that there is probably a whole aisle dedicated to eliminating the lingering scents associated with the accidents that your puppy has left behind, as well as with the messes that older adult dogs leave around the house. Unfortunately, most of these products are chemical based and will only cover up the problem and not really eliminate it. This is annoying because you will think that you had gotten rid of the smells, but then after a couple days or weeks the scent is back, with the addition of a faint chemical smell.

If you want a true pet odor removal technique, you may want to check out Quantum Pure Aire Products. This is a company that offers a wide variety of air purifiers that will help dog and even cat owners eliminate unwanted scents in their home for good. The reason is that these air purifiers remove all of the toxins and bacteria that are causing the dirty scents, leaving the home smelling fresh and clean like it should. To learn more about these products or to find a dealer near you, simply visit http://www.quantumpureaire.com.

Lately I’ve been really dedicated to working out and recently I noticed something interesting at the gym. My gym is most definitely not a meat market. A very large percentage of the patrons are there because they care about their health and not for dating purposes or to see and be seen.

However, on occasion, I’ve noticed that as I ride the stationary bicycle, someone will hop on to the one next to me and I pick up my pace a little. It’s not a conscious decision, really, but my other than conscious wanting to show off a little. It could be a desire not to be outdone.

I have noticed the opposite as well. If I get onto a machine next to someone who is already working out, sometimes their speed increases. I chalk this up to a high desire for competition. Competition is a drive that we can either embrace or deny. Me? I embrace it. When I was in sales, I loved to constantly challenge myself to do double or triple what the people around me were selling.

You see competition in everyday life most intensely where there are extremely limited resources. (Just look to the animal kingdom as they compete for water, food, mates.) Humans, especially in the United States, compete on economic bases. We all know about the survival of the fittest. . . It’s seldom about trade and cooperation. On some level or another, we compete–money, mates, parking spots. When we’re not out there competing ourselves, we sit around and watch others compete (sports, reality TV, beauty contests. . .). There is something innately interesting to us about watching one person go up against another for glory or humiliation or fortune or defeat.

As for my gym observation, this showed me how competition can be an added incentive for self improvement. Some part of my mind says that by showing the person on the next machine what I’m made of by working out harder or faster, then I’m only doing myself good. In this respect, competition can be healthy. A drinking contest is obviously an entirely different story.

So how can this base instinct be used most effectively for selling our products or services? Well, we see it all the time. . . two gas stations across the street from each other with slightly different prices, the lower of the two deciding to take that much less for the product. I’m not suggesting you lower your prices by any means, but through framing, we can show ourselves, our products, our services, as the answer in the minds of our affluent prospects and clients. ‘I am by no means the cheapest, and in fact, I may be one of the more expensive realtors, but you really do get what you pay for.’

What is your relation to competition? Do you embrace it or shy away from it? And how can you begin to use it for persuasion purposes? How do you intend to use your competitive drive to get ahead in everything you do?
